Message to Self... “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” This was God’s message to his appointed prophet Jeremiah. But as God’s chosen women, we shouldn’t make this a gender issue – it applies to you too! But, he objected to his appointment as a prophet on the grounds that he did not know how to speak because he was only a child. He felt he wasn't expressive or experienced enough. And God's response to this… "Say not, I am only a youth: for you shall go to all whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak." (Jeremiah 1:7) God was telling Jeremiah that his experience was irrelevant because a) his appointment was from God, b) God would be with him and c) He would tell Jeremiah what he should say. So, the next time you find yourself: Second guessing your abilities Wondering whether you will ever find the direction and purpose for your life Questioning whether God's calling on your life is His voice or your own Feeling that you're not good enough Thinking ‘who me?’ … Remember God's message to Jeremiah and remind yourself that you were chosen before the world began and whatever God's plan for your life, He never expected you to go it alone! Jeremiah could have spent a lot of time asking his friends and family what they thought about what God said, if they thought he was worthy of the calling, if they thought he was smart enough, pure enough, good enough. Some may of said of course he was all of these things, others may say ‘who are you?’ ‘Why would anyone want to listen to you?’ ‘Read what you wrote?’ I am soooooooooo thankful that God never gives up on me/us. God still loves us and He has a plan. The enemy may have made many attempts to "disqualify" you from receiving all that God has planned for you. Continue to know the One who knew you before you were even conceived. |
